Abstract

The increasing volume of waste is a global issue that requires serious attention. In Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, the significant rise in waste generation demands more effective management. This study analyzes the implementation of Good Environmental Governance (GEG) in waste management and the factors influencing its success or failure. The research applies GEG theory by Belbase 2010, focusing on legal regulations, participation and representation, as well as transparency and accountability. The findings indicate that GEG implementation remains suboptimal. Legal regulations exist but are weakly enforced, particularly in policy dissemination. Participation and representation show the active role of government, society and the private sector, but still face several obstacles.Transparency and accountability also need improvement by providing better access to information. The main challenges in GEG implementation include low public awareness, limited regional capacity, and restricted service accessibility. Strengthening education, policies, and infrastructure is crucial for ensuring sustainable waste management.
