Abstract

Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di SMA Negeri 1 Muaro Jambi menghadapi tantangan, terutama kurangnya pemahaman guru terhadap kurikulum baru dan kesulitan beradaptasi dengan teknologi. Hal ini menuntut kepemimpinan kepala sekolah yang efektif dalam mendukung guru dan menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif. Servant leadership menjadi pendekatan yang relevan karena berfokus pada pemberdayaan, dukungan moral, serta penguatan kapasitas tenaga pendidik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan servant leadership kepala sekolah dalam mendukung implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di SMA Negeri 1 Muaro Jambi serta mengidentifikasi tantangan yang dihadapi dalam proses tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumen. Informan dalam penelitian ini meliputi kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, guru mata pelajaran, serta perwakilan siswa. Uji validitas data pada penelitian ini menggunakan triangulasi sumber, teknik dan waktu. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis pendapat Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah menerapkan prinsip servant leadership dengan lima indikator. Kepala sekolah berperan aktif dalam mendukung guru dan siswa melalui bimbingan, pemberian pelatihan, serta menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif. Servant leadership terbukti membantu guru dalam beradaptasi dengan perubahan kurikulum, meningkatkan kolaborasi, serta memperkuat motivasi guru dan siswa dalam menerapkan Kurikulum Merdeka. Namun, terdapat beberapa tantangan dalam implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka melalui pendekatan servant leadership, antara lain kurangnya pemahaman guru tentang kurikulum merdeka, kesulitan guru dalam menerima perubahan, teknologi yang dibutuhkan belum memenuhi, dan perbedaan tingkat adaptasi guru terhadap kurikulum merdeka. The implementation of the Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka) at SMA Negeri 1 Muaro Jambi faces several challenges, particularly the lack of teachers’ understanding of the new curriculum and their difficulties in adapting to technology. This situation requires effective school leadership to support teachers and create a conducive learning environment. Servant leadership is a relevant approach as it emphasizes empowerment, moral support, and capacity building for educators. This study aims to analyze the implementation of servant leadership by the school principal in supporting the Independent Curriculum at SMA Negeri 1 Muaro Jambi and to identify the challenges encountered in the process. This research employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and document studies. The research informants consist of the school principal, vice principals, subject teachers, and student representatives. Data validity is ensured through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the school principal applies servant leadership principles based on five key indicators. The principal actively supports teachers and students through guidance, training programs, and the creation of a conducive learning environment. Servant leadership has been proven to assist teachers in adapting to curriculum changes, enhancing collaboration, and increasing both teacher and student motivation in implementing the Independent Curriculum. However, several challenges remain in implementing the Independent Curriculum through a servant leadership approach, including teachers’ limited understanding of the curriculum, resistance to change, inadequate technological resources, and varying levels of teacher adaptability to the Independent Curriculum.
