Abstract

This study aimed to explore learners' perceptions of the effectiveness of Yanto Tanjung’s YouTube channel as a Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) tool for TOEFL preparation, along with the factors influencing their perceptions. A qualitative approach was employed using a case study method. Data were gathered through interviews with four participants who had utilized Yanto Tanjung’s YouTube channel for TOEFL preparation. The findings reveal that the participants perceive the channel as highly effective in supporting their TOEFL preparation, citing factors such as accessibility, content quality, multimedia integration, interactivity, affordability, flexibility, and the opportunity for individualized learning. These features enable learners to engage with the content at their own pace and in a way that suits their learning preferences. However, participants also highlighted some areas for improvement. They suggested incorporating more practice exercises, providing live streaming Q&A sessions, and ensuring a consistent upload schedule for content. Despite these suggestions, the overall feedback reflects the channel’s positive impact on the participants' TOEFL preparation, demonstrating its potential as an effective and accessible CALL tool. This research provides valuable insights into the role of YouTube channels in language learning and offers recommendations for enhancing such platforms to better support learners' needs in standardized test preparation.
