Abstract
This research analyzes the news coverage in The New York Times and Aljazeera news article in reporting the Islamists demonstration in Jakarta from critical discourse analysis framework. The aim of this research is to examine how the texts represents the actors and reports the event through textual analysis of critical discourse analysis which only focuses on lexicalization aspect in naming and labeling the actors and reporting the event, referential strategy in the actors and predicational strategy in the actors and the event. This research employed descriptive qualitative research method. The data of this research consists of a news article from The New York Times and Aljazeera news outlets. The finding of this research is obtained through textual analysis which only focuses on lexicalization analysis of the text. The result of the research shows that The New York Times represents the one side of the party in negative representation through negative lexical items that the text employed, while Aljazeera news article does not tend to employ negative lexical item to one side of the party of the event to lead negative representation of the actors.
