Abstract
Ultisol merupakan salah satu jenis tanah yang umum digunakan sebagai lahan pertanian di Indonesia. Namun, tanah ini memiliki beberapa permasalahan, seperti kepadatan tanah yang tinggi dan kandungan bahan organik yang rendah. Hal ini dapat menyebabkan penurunan hasil produksi tanaman karena akar tanaman sulit menembus tanah yang padat. Pemberian bahan organik seperti kompos dapat menjadi solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini. Kompos dapat membantu mengurangi kepadatan tanah dan meningkatkan kandungan air pada kapasitas lapang. Salah satu sumber bahan organik yang dapat digunakan adalah tanaman Tithonia Diversifolia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari dan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian kompos campuran Tithonia dan kotoran sapi dengan dosis berbeda terhadap kepadatan Ultisol dan hasil kedelai. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jambi, untuk analisis sampel tanah dan kompos dilakukan di Laboratorium Ilmu Tanah Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jambi. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama ± 4 bulan terhitung sejak bulan Juli-November 2024. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimen dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 6 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan, sehingga terdapat 24 petak percobaan. Variabel yang diamati di lapangan yaitu pengukuran ketahanan penetrasi tanah, tinggi tanaman dan hasil tanaman. Variabel yang diamati di laboratorium yaitu bahan organik, bobot volume tanah, total ruang pori tanah, dan kadar air tanah. Data hasil pengamatan dianalisis ragam pada taraf α = 5 % untuk melihat pengaruh rata-rata perlakuan dilanjutkan menggunakan uji DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian Kompos Campuran Tithonia Diversifolia dan Kotoran Sapi dengan dosis 20 ton/ha adalah dosis terbaik dalam upaya menurunkan kepadatan tanah terlihat dari penurunan bobot volume, meningkatkan total ruang pori tanah, dan penurunan nilai ketahanan penetrasi tanah serta mampu meningkatkan hasil kedelai secara nyata. Ultisol is one type of soil that is commonly used as agricultural land in Indonesia. However, this soil has several problems, such as high soil density and low organic matter content. This can cause a decrease in crop production because plant roots have difficulty penetrating dense soil. Providing organic matter such as compost can be a solution to overcome this problem. Compost can help reduce soil density and increase water content at field capacity. One source of organic matter that can be used is the Tithonia Diversifolia plant. This study aims to study and determine the effect of providing a mixture of Tithonia compost and cow dung with different doses on Ultisol density and soybean yields. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jambi, for analysis of soil and compost samples carried out at the Soil Science Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jambi. The research was conducted for ± 4 months from July to November 2024. The research was conducted experimentally using a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 6 treatments and 4 replications, so that there were 24 experimental plots. The variables observed in the field were measurements of soil penetration resistance, plant height and plant yield. The variables observed in the laboratory were organic matter, soil volume weight, total soil pore space, and soil water content. The observation data were analyzed for variance at the α = 5% level to see the average effect of the treatment followed by using the DMRT. The results of the study showed that the administration of Tithonia Diversifolia Mixed Compost and Cow Manure at a dose of 20 tons/ha was the best dose in an effort to reduce soil density as seen from the decrease in volume weight, increase in total soil pore space, and decrease in soil penetration resistance value and was able to significantly increase soybean yields.
