Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of ginger (Zingiber officinale) fermented extract in drinking water on the water consumtion, carcass quality, weight of slaughter, carcass weight, percentages carcass, abdominal fat weight and feed intake broiler chicks. A total of two hundred unsexed 1 d-old chicks strain Lohman. The design of experiment was a Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and four replications. Each experimental unit comprised 10 of birds. Treatment groups were as follows P0 = drinking water without addition fermented ginger extract 0 cc (control); P1 = drinking water with addition fermented ginger extract 2 cc; P2 = drinking water with addition fermented ginger extracts 4 cc; P3 = drinking water with addition fermented ginger extract 6 cc; P4 = drinking water with addition fermentasi ginger extract 8 cc. The variable observed were drinking water consumsion, carcass quality (slaughter weight, carcass weight, percentage carcass, cholesterol carcass, abdominal fat) and feed intake. Results of the study showed that treatments gave a significantly (P<0,05) on feed intake, slaughtered body weight, carcass weight, carcass percentage, were as treatments significantly (P<0,05) decreased of abdominal fat weight and carcass cholesterol. It could be concluded that the use of fermented ginger (Zingiber officinale) extracts in the drinking water up to 8 cc increase the carcass quality dan feed intake but decreased cholesterol carcass dan abdominal fat of broiler chicks in this study.
