Abstract

This study aims to determine the obstacles in the investigation of online arisan fraud cases at the Jambi Regional Police and to determine how to overcome these obstacles. In this study, the problems studied are 1) What are the obstacles in the investigation at the Jambi Regional Police and 2) How to overcome these obstacles. The research method used in this writing is an empirical legal approach. Empirical legal research aims to determine how the law is implemented in society, by looking at the reality in the midst of society so that it can be seen how the law works. This study uses qualitative research techniques with empirical legal research methods that can be carried out in 3 (three) ways, namely through interviews, questionnaires, questionnaires and observations. The obstacles faced by the Jambi Regional Police in investigating Online Social Gathering fraud cases are internal obstacles, namely in reality the perpetrators of Online Social Gathering fraud use account numbers that use other people's identities/fake and not only one account number is used by the perpetrators of Online Social Gathering fraud, the cellphone number used by the perpetrator is also not registered using the perpetrator's identity, and evidence of online transactions has been deleted. The advice given is to improve the capacity and human resources of the regional police, it is necessary to continue to improve the capacity of investigators, especially in the field of information technology and cybercrime, considering that the Online Social Gathering fraud mode often involves complex digital technology and social media. The Jambi Regional Police should increase preventive efforts by conducting scheduled socialization of the dangers of fraud under the guise of Online Social Gathering.
