Abstract
ABSTRACT Background: Patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) requires a multidisciplinary approach to improve the patient's quality of life, with effective communication between nurses and families to reduce anxiety. However, there are various challenges in the care of end-of-life patients, including a lack of resources, slow decisions from families, and the need for specialized training for nurses. Therefore, it is important to integrate physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects in the care of patients in the ICU to achieve optimal outcomes. The purpose of this study is to be able to explore more deeply about the experience of nurses in treating end-of-life patients in the ICU room of Raden Mattaher Hospital, Jambi Province. Method: This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive phenomenological design. Sampling was carried out by purposive sampling with a sample of 8 nurses in the ICU, data was collected using observation and semi structured interviews. Data analysis using the collaizi model. Result: End-of-life patient care requires a holistic approach, involving family, as well as emotional and spiritual support, while overcoming a variety of barriers. Conclusion: Nurse experience can affect the level of knowledge and ability of nurses in caring for end-of-life patients. Keywords: end of life ; ICU; nurse experience ; therapy ABSTRAK Latar Belakang : Perawatan pasien di ruang Intensive Care Unit (ICU) diperlukan pendekatan multidisiplin untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup pasien, dengan komunikasi yang efektif antara perawat dan keluarga untuk mengurangi kecemasan. Namun, terdapat berbagai tantangan dalam perawatan pasien end of life, termasuk kurangnya sumber daya, keputusan yang lambat dari keluarga, dan kebutuhan untuk pelatihan khusus bagi perawat. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk mengintegrasikan aspek fisik, emosional, dan spiritual dalam perawatan pasien di ICU untuk mencapai hasil yang optimal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk dapat mengeksplorasi lebih mendalam tentang pengalaman perawat dalam merawat pasien end of life di ruang ICU RSUD Raden Mattaher Provinsi Jambi. Metode Penelitian : Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan desain fenomenologi deskriptif. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan purposive sampling dengan sampel 8 perawat Ners di ICU, data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan observasi dan wawancara semi terstruktur. Analisis data menggunakan model collaizi. Hasil : Perawatan pasien end of life memerlukan pendekatan yang holistik, melibatkan keluarga, serta dukungan emosional dan spiritual, sambil mengatasi berbagai hambatan yang ada. Kesimpulan : Pengalaman perawat dapat mempengaruhi tingkat pengetahuan dan kemampuan perawat dalam merawat pasien end of life. Kata Kunci : end of life ; ICU ; pengalaman perawat ; perawatan
