Abstract

Perkebunan kelapa sawit swadaya memiliki peran penting dalam perekonomian Kabupaten Muaro Jambi, namun kesejahteraan petani masih menghadapi tantangan struktural. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan karakteristik usahatani kelapa sawit swadaya, menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kesejahteraan petani, serta merumuskan strategi peningkatan kesejahteraan secara berkelanjutan. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif melalui survei, observasi, dan wawancara, dengan analisis SWOT dan Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa petani kelapa sawit swadaya telah memiliki kondisi ekonomi yang relatif baik, ditandai dengan kepemilikan lahan yang cukup luas dan kemampuan memenuhi kebutuhan dasar serta menabung. Namun, produktivitas usaha tani cenderung stagnan akibat keterbatasan kapasitas teknis, akses modal, dan minimnya adopsi teknologi. Strategi pengembangan diarahkan pada pemanfaatan peluang eksternal, seperti kemitraan industri, sertifikasi keberlanjutan (ISPO dan RSPO), peluang ekspor, serta inovasi produk dan pemberdayaan masyarakat lokal. Di sisi lain, penguatan kekuatan internal menekankan efektivitas pengelolaan lahan, efisiensi produksi, diversifikasi usaha, dan kontribusi terhadap ekonomi daerah. Analisis AHP menunjukkan bahwa prioritas utama peningkatan kesejahteraan terletak pada pengembangan kualitas sumber daya manusia melalui pelatihan teknis dan pendidikan berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya strategi holistik berbasis kelembagaan, teknologi, dan partisipasi multipihak untuk membangun agribisnis kelapa sawit swadaya yang inklusif, berdaya saing, dan berkelanjutan di Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. Independent oil palm plantations have an important role in the economy of Muaro Jambi Regency, but the welfare of farmers still faces structural challenges. This study aims to describe the characteristics of independent oil palm farming, analyze the factors that affect the welfare of farmers, and formulate strategies to improve welfare in a sustainable manner. The method used is a quantitative approach through surveys, observations, and interviews, with SWOT analysis and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results of the study show that independent oil palm farmers have relatively good economic conditions, characterized by large enough land ownership and the ability to meet basic needs and save. However, the productivity of farming businesses tends to be stagnant due to limited technical capacity, access to capital, and lack of technology adoption. The development strategy is directed at leveraging external opportunities, such as industry partnerships, sustainability certification (ISPO and RSPO), export opportunities, as well as product innovation and local community empowerment. On the other hand, strengthening internal strength emphasizes the effectiveness of land management, production efficiency, business diversification, and contribution to the regional economy. AHP's analysis shows that the main priority for improving welfare lies in developing the quality of human resources through technical training and continuing education. This research emphasizes the importance of a holistic strategy based on institutions, technology, and multi-stakeholder participation to build an inclusive, competitive, and sustainable independent oil palm agribusiness in Muaro Jambi Regency.
