Abstract
Penanganan pascapanen padi masih menjadi tantangan utama bagi petani di Desa Tarutung, Kabupaten Kerinci. Salah satu masalah yang sering terjadi adalah kehilangan hasil (losses) akibat proses perontokan manual yang kurang efisien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur kinerja mesin perontok padi Power Thresher terhadap tiga varietas padi, yaitu Payo, Ladang, dan Walen, dengan melihat aspek tingkat kehilangan gabah, kapasitas kerja, efisiensi perontokan, dan kecepatan putaran mesin (RPM).Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Januari–Februari 2024 menggunakan metode pengamatan langsung di lapangan dan pengujian sebanyak lima kali untuk masing-masing varietas. Data dikumpulkan melalui pengukuran berat gabah sebelum dan sesudah perontokan, waktu proses, dan perhitungan RPM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kehilangan gabah tertinggi terjadi pada varietas Payo dengan rata-rata 1.500 g per 10 kg gabah, sedangkan kapasitas perontokan mesin Power Thresher mencapai 600–800 kg per jam. RPM optimal yang digunakan adalah 3000 rpm, dan efisiensi perontokan tertinggi diperoleh pada varietas Payo dan Ladang.Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa mesin Power Thresher mampu meningkatkan efisiensi dan menekan kehilangan hasil panen, terutama jika digunakan sesuai dengan varietas dan kecepatan yang tepat. Hasil ini dapat menjadi referensi untuk pengembangan teknologi pertanian di wilayah pedesaan guna meningkatkan produktivitas dan kualitas hasil panen padi Post-harvest handling of rice remains a major challenge for farmers in Tarutung Village, Kerinci Regency. One of the recurring issues is yield loss due to inefficient manual threshing processes. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the Power Thresher machine on three rice varieties—Payo, Ladang, and Walen—by assessing grain loss rate, working capacity, threshing efficiency, and machine rotation speed (RPM). The research was conducted from January to February 2024 using direct field observations and five replications for each variety. Data collection included measuring the weight of the grain before and after threshing, processing time, and RPM readings. The results showed that the highest grain loss occurred in the Payo variety, with an average of 1,500 grams per 10 kilograms of grain, while the Power Thresher's threshing capacity ranged from 600 to 800 kg per hour. The optimal operating speed was found to be 3000 RPM, and the highest threshing efficiency was observed in the Payo and Ladang varieties.The study concludes that the Power Thresher machine significantly enhances efficiency and reduces post-harvest losses, especially when operated with the appropriate variety and speed. These findings can serve as a reference for the development of agricultural technology in rural areas to improve the productivity and quality of rice harvests
