Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada materi bentuk aljabar ditinjau dari self efficacy pada siswa kelas VII. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 12 Kota Jambi tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Adapun subjek pada penelitian ini adalah 6 orang siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 12 Kota Jambi, masing-masing 2 siswa dengan kategori self efficacy tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Instrumen utama pada penelitian ini adalah peneliti serta instrumen pendukungnya berupa angket self efficacy, lembar tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis pada materi bentuk aljabar dan lembar pedoman wawancara secara tidak terstruktur. Adapun analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan self efficacy tinggi memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang baik. Hal ini dapat dilihat dengan kemampuan siswa memenuhi indikator siswa menuliskan dan menyebutkan terkait informasi dalam soal, konsep beserta cara menyelesaikannya, memeriksa kembali jawaban, memahami simbol beserta istilah dan memberikan kesimpulan diakhir jawaban. Sementara siswa dengan self efficacy sedang juga memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang baik, siswa mampu memenuhi beberapa indikator namun masih kurang maksimal daripada siswa pada kriteria self efficacy tinggi. Dapat dilihat dari kemampuan siswa menuliskan informasi soal, menyelesaikan soal dengan konsep akan tetapi masih ragu dan keliru dalam menyelesikannya, memahami simbol beserta istilah dan memberikan kesimpulan akhir. Kemudian siswa dengan self efficacy rendah masih kurang dalam kemampuan komunikasi matematis, siswa tidak dapat memenuhi indikator. Dapat dibuktikan dengan siswa belum mampu menuliskan terkait informasi soal, konsep beserta cara menyelesaikannya, memeriksa kembali jawaban, dan memberikan kesimpulan akhir. Dengan demikian disimpulkan self efficacy dapat mempengaruhi siswa dalam mengemukan ide , menyusun langkah penyelesaian soal dan memberikan kesimpulan akhir dengan tepat. This study aims to describe and analyze students' mathematical communication skills in algebraic forms material in terms of self-efficacy in grade VII students. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 12 Jambi City in the 2024/2025 academic year. This type of research is qualitative research. The subjects in this study were 6 grade VII students of SMP Negeri 12 Jambi City, 2 students each with high, medium and low self-efficacy categories. The main instrument in this study was the researcher and the supporting instruments were a self-efficacy questionnaire, a mathematical communication ability test sheet on algebraic forms material and an unstructured interview guide sheet. The data analysis was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that students with high self-efficacy have good mathematical communication skills. This can be seen from the students' ability to fulfill the indicators of students writing and mentioning related information in the problem, concepts and how to solve them, rechecking answers, understanding symbols and terms and providing conclusions at the end of the answer. While students with moderate self-efficacy also have good mathematical communication skills, they are able to meet several indicators but are still less than optimal compared to students with high self-efficacy criteria. This can be seen from the students' ability to write problem information, solve problems with concepts but still have doubts and errors in solving them, understand symbols and terms, and provide final conclusions. Then, students with low self-efficacy are still lacking in mathematical communication skills, students cannot meet the indicators. This can be proven by students not being able to write related problem information, concepts and how to solve them, recheck answers, and provide final conclusions. Thus, it is concluded that self-efficacy can influence students in expressing ideas, compiling steps to solve problems and providing final conclusions correctly.
