Abstract
Latar Belakang: Diabetes melitus tipe 2 tidak hanya menyerang usia dewasa tetapi juga remaja akibat perubahan gaya hidup tidak sehat. Rendahnya pengetahuan dan kesadaran tentang DM menjadi faktor risiko. Intervensi edukatif berbasis teori Health Belief Model (HBM) berpotensi meningkatkan kesadaran dan perilaku pencegahan. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh edukasi kesehatan terstruktur berbasis Health Belief Model (HBM) terhadap perilaku pencegahan diabetes melitus pada remaja. Metode: Penelitian kuantitatif dengan quasy eksperimen design pendekatan pretest-posttest control group design. Metode pengambilan sampel dengan cara stratified random sampling sebanyak 86 orang, 43 responden kelompok intervensi dan kelompok kontrol. Pengukuran data menggunakan instrument Health Belief Model (HBM). Analisa univariat menggunakan uji deskriptif frekuensi. Analisa bivariat menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Sign Rank T-Test dan uji Mann-Whitney. Hasil: Distribusi frekuensi usia responden seluruhnya 13-15 tahun, berasal dari kelas VIII, dan mayoritas berjenis kelamin perempuan. Perilaku pencegahan kelompok intervensi pretest sebagian besar kategori perilaku cukup dan kurang. Pada hasil pretest dan posttest menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan, sehingga ada pengaruh edukasi kesehatan terstruktur berbasis Health Belief Model (HBM) terhadap perilaku pencegahan diabetes melitus pada remaja diperoleh nilai p-value = 0,000. Kesimpulan: Ada pengaruh signifikan perilaku pencegahan diabetes melitus sebelum dan sesudah diberikan edukasi kesehatan terstruktur berbasis health belief model (HBM). Diharapkan kepada remaja untuk dapat menerapkan perilaku hidup sehat. Kata Kunci: Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2, Edukasi Kesehatan Terstruktur, Health Belief Model, Perilaku Pencegahan, Remaja, Sekolah. Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus does not only affect adults but also adolescents due to unhealthy lifestyle changes. Low levels of knowledge and awareness regarding diabetes mellitus are contributing risk factors. Educational interventions based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) theory have the potential to enhance awareness and preventive behaviors. This study aims to determine the effect of structured health education based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) on diabetes mellitus prevention behavior among adolescents. Methods: This is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach. The sampling method employed stratified random sampling involving 86 participants, comprising 43 respondents in both the intervention and control groups. Data were measured using a Health Belief Model (HBM)-based instrument. Univariate analysis was conducted using descriptive frequency tests, while bivariate analysis utilized the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test and the Mann-Whitney test. Results: The age distribution of respondents ranged from 13 to 15 years, all from Grade VIII, with the majority being female. In the pretest, most respondents in the intervention group exhibited moderate to poor preventive behavior. Posttest results indicated a significant improvement, demonstrating a notable effect of structured health education based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) on diabetes prevention behavior among adolescents, with a p-value = 0.000. Conclusion: There is a significant effect on diabetes mellitus prevention behavior before and after the implementation of structured health education based on the Health Belief Model (HBM).
