Abstract
Sediment production in the Sump Riamkanan Catchment Area increases sedimentation that flows into Sump Riamkanan and has the potential to disrupt the mine drainage process. One of the main causes is erosion, which is influenced by rainfall, land slope, vegetation, and human activity. This study aims to analyze erosion events and sedimentation levels in the Sump Riamkanan Pit Central Tutupan of PT. Adaro Indonesia. This study uses the RUSLE method to map erosion hazard levels with the help of GIS (ArcGis) applications and the SDR approach to estimate sediment accumulation. The parameters used include rainfall data from the Pit Central Tutupan station, soil test results, slope class, land use, and soil conservation. Based on the Podsolik Merah Kuning soil type and slope class, five land units (Pods I–V) were formed. Each map was then overlaid to produce an Erosion Hazard Classification divided into five classes: very light, light, moderate, heavy, and very heavy. To determine the drainage flow that produced the most sedimentation, the Catchment Area was divided into three parts based on soil sampling points and the direction of water flow towards the sump, namely Area 1, Area 2, and Area 3. The results of erosion potential calculations in the Sump Riamkanan Pit Central Catchment Area are divided into three water flow areas leading to the sump. The potential for soil erosion in area 1 is 1,655,218.40 Bcm/year, area 2 is 2,696,173.58 Bcm/year, and area 3 is 4,001,445.52 Bcm/year, with a total erosion potential of 8,352,837.49 Bcm/year. The average Sediment Delivery Ratio (SDR) for area 1 is 0.41, area 2 is 0.42, and area 3 is 0.40. Based on these SDR values, the potential sediment formed and flowing into the sump is 573,069.76 Bcm/year in area 1, 956,974.99 Bcm/year in area 2, and 1,265,170.54 Bcm/year in area 3, with a total sediment potential of 2,795,215.29 Bcm/year. Thus, area 3 produces the most sediment due to erosion, followed by area 2, and the least in area 1.
