Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji toponim-toponim yang berada di Kabupaten Pasaman dan Tanah Datar berdasarkan Tambo Tuanku Imam Bonjol. Naskah tersebut merupakan sebuah historis yang autentik dalam merekam peristiwa penting di Minangkabau, khususnya pada masa Perang Padri. Fokus penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi toponim yang berada di Kabupaten Pasaman dan Tanah Datar berdasarkan letak geografis serta keterkaitannya dengan tinggalan arkeologis. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu, metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis, yang mencakup pengumpulan data, pengolahan data (analisis), eksplanasi dan penarikan kesimpulan dari permasalahan. Teori yang digunakan yaitu merujuk pada teori Agus Aris munandar, yang dibagi menjadi tiga aspek: 1) Arti dari nama tempat, 2) Keberadaan lokasi tersebut saat ini, 3) Peran kebudayaan sezaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 43 toponim yang berada di Kabupaten Pasaman dan 11 toponim di Kabupaten Tanah Datar. Dari 54 toponim hanya hanya 9 toponoim yang menjadi lokus penelitian. Toponim tersebut masih digunakan hingga saat ini dan memiliki keterkaitan dengan tokoh Tuanku Imam Bonjol peristiwa Perang Padri. Hal ini juga dibuktikan dari tinggalan arkeologi sezaman di wilayah-wilayah yang disebutkan dalam naskah. Kata Kunci: Toponim, Perang Padri, Naskah, Tuanku Imam Bonjol ABSTRACT This study aims to examine the toponyms located in Pasaman and Tanah Datar Regencies based on the Tambo Tuanku Imam Bonjol. This manuscript is an authentic historical record of important events in Minangkabau, particularly during the Padri War. The focus of this study is to identify toponyms in Pasaman and Tanah Datar Regencies based on their geographical location and their connection to archaeological remains. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach, which includes data collection, data processing (analysis), explanation, and drawing conclusions from the issues. The theory used refers to Agus Aris Munandar's theory, which is divided into three aspects: 1) The meaning of the place name, 2) The current existence of the location, 3) The role of contemporary culture. The results of the study indicate that there are 43 toponyms in Pasaman Regency and 11 toponyms in Tanah Datar Regency. Out of the 54 toponyms, only 9 were selected as the focus of the study. These toponyms are still in use today and are associated with the figure of Tuanku Imam Bonjol and the Padri War. This is also supported by contemporary archaeological remains in the areas mentioned in the manuscripts. Keywords: Toponym, Padri War, Script, Tuanku Imam Bonjol
