Abstract

This study aims to identify the forms, formation patterns, and meanings of slang used on TikTok. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, listening, and note-taking, using a classification table as an instrument. Data analysis was carried out descriptively qualitatively starting from collection, reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the study, 24 slang data were obtained on TikTok, including acronyms, abbreviations, and foreign vocabulary. The formation patterns of slang include the formation of acronyms, abbreviations, and foreign vocabulary. In terms of meaning, the slang obtained is categorized into denotative and connotative meanings. Based on the results of the study, 4 words with denotative meanings and 20 words with connotative meanings were found. The use of this slang facilitates communication and strengthens relationships between users on TikTok. This study contributes to understanding the dynamics of language in the digital era.
