Abstract

ABSTRACT Hikmah, N. (2019). Developing a Thematic English Textbook for Students of Primary School Teacher Education Study Program in Jambi University. Thesis, English Study Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Jambi University in academic Year 2018/2019. First supervisor: Drs. Saharudin, M.Ed., M.App.Sc.PhD. and second supervisor: Duti Volya, S.Pd., M.Pd. This study aims to describe the process of developing a thematic English textbook for students of primary school teacher education study program in Jambi University. As a research and development, this study has four stages. They are analyze, design, develop, and, evaluation. To collect the data about students’ need, questionnaire and interview were analyzed as data analysis. The participants of this study were second semester students of primary school teacher education study program in Jambi University. The participants consists of 120 students of four classess in the primary school teacher education study program. the result of data analysis showed that the students need to improve pronunciation, vocabulary building, grammar, and, integrated skills of English. Based on the data, then the textbook were designed, developed, and, evaluated. Keywords: Integrative thematic learning, research and development, English textbook.
