Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of level of palm oil decanter meal preserved with 0.08% (w/w) ofcinnamon bark (Cinnamomum burmannii) powder (PODM) in diet on the rumen environment of cross breed Ettawa goat. Four cross breed ettawa goats, weighted 17.5 to 21 kg, aged between 1.5 and 2 years, were used in this study. Animals were fed with four different levels of PODM of 0, 33.3, 66,7 and 100 % for treatment A, B, C and D respectively in ration of local forage and the ration was set up as the basic requirement of 3% DM of body weight. Experiment was adjusted for one week adaptation period and followed with the five days of data collection for four periods of time. The rumen liquor was collected after animals fed with the experimental diet for data collection. Parameter measured were rumen pH, the concentdiet of ammonia and fatty acid. The design of experiment was Latin Square Design. Results showed that the increase level of PODM in diet was not significantly (P>0.05) on the rumen pH, the composition of ammonia and fatty acid. PODM could be used 100 % in diet.
