Abstract

ABSTRACT Wulandari, Ade P. (2019). Students’ Perception Toward the Use of English as Mediun of Instruction on Eleventh Graders at SMK N04 Kota Jambi. Thesis. English Education Study Program. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Jambi University in Academic Year 2018/2019. First Supervisor: Rd. M. Ali, S.Pd., M.Pd and Second Supervisor Dra. Armiwati, M.Hum Key words: Students’ Perceptions, EMI This research was aim to find out students’ culinary arts perception toward the use of EMI in Continental food subject at SMK N4 Kota Jambi. The participants of this research were eleventh graders culinanry art at SMK N4 Kota Jambi in total 60 students. The design of this research was quantitative method. The data of this research were collected by using close ended questionnaires that was adapted from Da-Fu Huang (2015). The questionnaires consisted of 25 questions that were divided by three groups, first is Learning Motivation, second is Learning Anxiety, and the last is about Learning Achievement. The result of the data analysis indicated that most of students had high/positive perception toward the use of EMI in learning process in the classroom. It showed from the highest score of each part that the most of students (x̅=34.01) in Learning Motivation, in the Learning Anxiety (x̅=29.10), and the part is Learning Achievement got (x̅=31.49). In conclusion, based on the findings it could be seen that the majority of students agreed with the use of EMI in continental food subject. The use of EMI also gave many benefits and constribute positively to students. In the future, the researcher hopes that the findings of the research could be used as the source and references for school to use English as Medium of Instruction in the class.
