Abstract
This study aims to find out and explore how K-Pop role-play as a global online discourse community created by the effect of technology gives benefits and positivity to its members, especially those who are in the process of learning English for the use of communication or Lingua Franca. There are six participants who were chosen as sample of this study by applying purposive sampling to make sure that they fit to the criteria needed for this study. The participants then invited for individual interviews that were done via chat in order to see their perceptions towards K-Pop role-play as a potential media to learn language in informal situation or as additional learning media. The results show that participants perceived K-Pop role-play as a good help and potential media for them to improve and learn English language despite of its main function for them to entertain themselves and enjoy their fan activities. Almost all of the participants also stated that they enjoy learning English alongside doing their fan-activities as K-Pop role-player as it is considered to be more interesting, enjoyable, fun and less pressure comparing to the usual formal way of learning (e.g in class, lecturers, etc). Key Words: ELF, Discourse Community and K-Pop Role-play
