Abstract

This study aims to know parents’ perspectives on teaching Mathematics and Science through English at Private Bilingual School in Jambi during Online Learning. The focus of this study was on students’ difficulties related to difficulties in comprehending the meaning of some terms related to concepts in mathematics, English as the language of instruction in teaching Mathematics. The presence of students’ engagement related to giving rewards, supportive interaction, and emotional engagement that lead to positive engagement. Next was the implementation and assessment of synchronous learning of teaching Mathematics and Science through English in online classroom. Followed by the fairness of the assessments in online learning, parents’ assistance and support in learning online in learning Mathematics through English in an online classroom were found in this study. This study was designed as a descriptive qualitative study. Participants of the study were 6 parents from one of the private bilingual schools in Jambi city. The data of this study was gathered and collected through face-to-face interviews guided by adapted interview guidance. Analysis of data followed these steps; transcribing, analyzing, coding the interview recorded, and linking the data found to the previous study.
