Abstract
ABSTRACT Silviah Dewi Rahayu, 2022. Learning Loss in the Teaching of English Subject at a Vocational Secondary School in Tanjung Jabung Barat: Teachers’ Perceptions Covid-19 Pandemic has caused unexpected shift in teaching and learning at schools around the world. Teaching and learning process has mostly switched to distance learning and causes problems for all parties involved, including students and their, teachers, as well as school management. This study aims to find out whether there have been changes in the learning process during the pandemic, changes in behavior and performance that occurred in students during the transition period, and teacher strategies in mitigating learning loss in the new era. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative and employed a semi structured interview to collect the data. The subject of this research are two English teachers Vocational School in Tanjung Jabung Barat, Jambi province. The findings showed The change in students during the pandemic was marked by changes in behavior, performance, and achievement. Teachers feel that these changes can be overcome by providing more varied learning materials such as in-depth discussions, and developing teaching materials such as videos to stimulate student in teaching and learning process Key Word : Pandemic, English Teaching, Teachers Perception, Learning Loss
