Abstract
This study aims to determine the strategies used by the teacher in teaching reading at the tenth grade of SMA N 2 Muaro Jambi. The design of this research is qualitative descriptive, with observation and interview as the instruments. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. This study used a sample of one class from the tenth grade of SMA N 2 Muaro Jambi. Based on the results of field observations and the results of interviews conducted by researchers, it was found that the English teacher at the tenth grade of SMAN 2 Muaro Jambi applied a reading teaching strategy in the form of reading aloud and silent Reading.
