Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai evaluasi tindakan konservasi meriam dengan penggunaan bahan kimia, bahan kimia yang digunakan berupa asam sitrat, toluena, paraloid b72, aseton. Konservasi kuratif merupakan sebuah tindakan yang dilakukan untuk sebuah objek yang sudah mengalami kerusakan. Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah 3 buah meriam yang berada pada halaman MSJ. Meriam tersebut mengalami kerusakan korosi, dan akumulasi endapan debu pada permukaannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui bagaimana tindakan konservasi kuratif yang dilakukan oleh pihak MSJ, kemudian mengevaluasi tindakan konservasi tersebut apakah tindakan tersebut sudah sesuai dengan metode dan prinsip-prinsip konservasi dan yang terakhir membuat sebuah panduan praktis terhadap konservasi kuratif objek logam. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini berupa sebuah metode kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif�evaluatif serta menggunakan penalaran induktif. Dari penelitian ini mendapatkan hasil berupa konservasi kuratif yang dilakukan pihak MSJ berhasil menghilangkan endapan debu yang ada pada permukaan meriam dan mencegah laju percepatan korosi yang ada pada meriam dengan dilakukannya pemberian lapisan pelindung/coating. Proses konservasi yang dilakukan pihak MSJ sudah sesuai dengan metode dan prinsip-prinsip konservasi arkeologi. Hasil akhir dari penelitian ini berupa sebuah panduan praktis konservasi kuratif yang diharapkan bisa diterapkan pada museum. Kata Kunci: meriam, konservasi kuratif, evaluasi, panduan praktis. xiii ABSTRACT This research discusses the evaluation of cannon conservation measures with the use of chemicals, the chemicals used are citric acid, toluene, paraloid b72, acetone. Curative conservation is an action taken for an object that has been damaged. The objects in this study are 3 cannons located in the MSJ yard. The cannon suffered from corrosion damage, and the accumulation of dust deposits on its surface. The purpose of this research is to find out how the curative conservation measures carried out by MSJ, then evaluate the conservation measures whether they are in accordance with the methods and principles of conservation and finally make a practical guide to the curative conservation of metal objects. The method used in this research is a qualitative method that is descriptive-evaluative and uses inductive reasoning. From this research, the results obtained in the form of curative conservation carried out by MSJ succeeded in removing dust deposits on the surface of the cannon and preventing the accelerated rate of corrosion on the cannon by applying a protective coating/coating. The conservation process carried out by MSJ is in accordance with the methods and principles of archaeological conservation. The final result of this research is a practical guide to curative conservation that is expected to be applied to museums. Keywords: cannon, curative conservation, evaluation, practical guide.
