Abstract
This research aims to explore these varied experiences, contributing valuable insights into how PHEIs can actively support the adaptation of international students. The objectives of this research are to evaluate international students'' perspective towards the role of English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) in PHEIs, examines the roles that PHEIs show in supporting international students, identifies dominant factors that contribute on international students’ successful in academic at PHEI), and explores the challenges that have experienced by international students in PHEIs. The researcher employed a qualitative approach to collect stories and histories from the first and second batches of international students at a public higher educational institution in Jambi. The data were begun by preliminary observation in the early of international students to PHEI then followed by oral semi-structured interviews by video recording. This research explored the multifaceted role of English particularly its function as a medium of instruction across various areas, identified eight key roles the PHEI supporting EFL international students, identified five key factors contributing to the success of international students within a PHEI in Jambi, offered seven key recommendations directed towards PHEI to enhance their internationalization efforts. Furthermore, participants offered a five-fold definition of internationalization. International students meet a crowd of challenges during their academic journeys. Students must adapt to a new environment and service mental well-being through strategies. This public higher educational institution (PHEI) should enhance English language proficiency by employing EMI in this university specifically for international students Educators must implement EMI as a requires specialized training and support to ensure effective distribution of content and consideration of diverse learning styles among international students.
