ABSTRAK Sinaga, E.M., 2024. Teaching Narrative Text Through Project Based Learning at High School Level: EFL Teacher Practices and Challenges. Skripsi. Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Ilmu Keguruan Dan Kependidikan Universitas Jambi Tahun Akademik 2023/2024. Pembimbing I adalah Dr. Nyimas Triyana Safitri, S.Pd., M.Ed, St. Pembimbing II adalah Lilik Ulfiati, S.Pd., M.Pd. Kata Kunci: Teks Naratif, Pembelajaran Berbasis Proyek Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana guru EFL menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis proyek dalam mengajar teks naratif dan untuk menyelidiki tantangan yang dihadapi oleh guru yang menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis proyek. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMAN 12 Kota Jambi, di kelas dua belas pada semester kedua tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Metode kualitatif digunakan sebagai metodologi penelitian ini. Ada satu guru bahasa Inggris yang berpartisipasi dalam mengisi wawancara penelitian ini. Instrumen penelitian ini terdiri dari wawancara, Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru mengajarkan teks naratif dengan menggunakan sintaks PjBL yang terdiri dari pertanyaan esensial, merancang rencana proyek, membuat jadwal, memantau, menilai hasil, dan mengevaluasi pengalaman siswa dalam PjBL. Temuan penelitian ini juga mengungkapkan beberapa tantangan yang dialami oleh guru dalam mengimplementasikan PjBL. Peneliti dapat menyimpulkan bahwa tantangan yang dihadapi oleh guru adalah mengenai kesulitan dalam manajemen waktu dan masalah manajemen kelas. ABSTRACT Sinaga, E.M., 2024. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Jambi University in Academic Year 2023/2024. The first supervisor is Dr. Nyimas Triyana Safitri, S.Pd., M.Ed, St. The second supervisor is Lilik Ulfiati, S.Pd., M.Pd. Key words : Narrative Text, Project-Based Learning The present study aimed to find out how EFL teacher used project based learning in teaching narrative text and to investigate the challenges faced by teacher implementing project based learning. This study was carried out at SMAN 12 Jambi city, in twelfth grade at the second semester of 2022/2023 academic year. A qualitative method was used as the methodology of the present research. There was one english teacher who participated in filling out the interview of the present research. The instrument consists of interview, The findings show that teacher teach narrative texts by using PjBL syntax which consists of Essential question, Design a plan for the project, Create a schedule, Monitoring, Assess the outcome, and evaluate students' experience in PjBL. The findings show that the research also reveals some of the challenges experienced by the teacher while implementing PjBL. The researcher can conclude that the challenges faced by the teacher are regarding the difficulty in management time and Classroom management issues.
