Abstract
In order to master a language, people must be able to speak that language because speaking skill clearly indicates that the learner knows to use the language. The problem in this research was the students’ speaking skill are still lacking. The students also not interested in learning, difficult to understand and boring. The aim of this research is to know whether or not there is significant effect of storytelling on students’ speaking skill. The type of this research is quantitative method. The design of this research is quasi-experimental research. Data collection through test. Data analysis techniques are paired sample t-test, validity and reliability. The result of this study showed that the mean score of control class was higher than experimental class. The mean score of the post-test in the experimental class was 75.15 and control class was 70.20. The Sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05 (0.000<0.05). It indicates the significant between control class and experimental class. The alternative hypothesis (Hα) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Therefore, there is significant effect of storytelling on students’ speaking skill. Key words: The Effect, Storytelling, Speaking Skill
