Abstract

This study aims to describe the development process and quality of mathematical comic books based on problem based learning to improve numeracy literacy skills in data and diagram materials for grade VII junior high school students reviewed from the validity, practicality and effectiveness. The research conducted is a development research with the ADDIE development model (analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The results of the study indicate that problem-based learning-based math comic books to improve students' numeracy literacy skills based on quality aspects including valid, practical and effective obtained a validity level in the material aspect of 87.5% with a very valid category, and in the design aspect of 94.44% with a very valid category. Then the level of practicality seen from the practicality questionnaire by the teacher obtained a percentage of 93.33% with a very practical category, and the level of practicality from the practicality questionnaire by students obtained a percentage of 95.06% with a very practical category. Furthermore, the effectiveness criteria, where the effective criteria are seen from the results of the math comic media effectiveness questionnaire by students or student response questionnaires and the results of students' numeracy literacy ability tests. Where the level of effectiveness based on the results of the effectiveness questionnaire by students obtained a percentage of 96.87% with a very effective category, while based on the results of the numeracy literacy ability test, 28 students experienced an increase in high or medium category abilities which had an N-Gain value of 67% with a fairly effective category. Thus, it can be seen that students' numeracy literacy skills can be developed using mathematical comic media based on problem-based learning.
