Abstract

Metacognitive abilities are tools that can be a means of academic achievement and the ability to solve problems. The metacognitive ability level of class X students at SMA Negeri 8 Muaro Jambi is still relatively low. One effort that is considered capable of overcoming this problem is by applying the Problem Based Learning and Project Based Learning models in learning. The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach with the True Experimental Design research type. The instruments used were pretest-posttest sheets and learning implementation observation sheets. Data analysis was carried out using the One-Way Anova test. The results of this research show that the application of the Project Based Learning model provides a greater tendency towards the level of students' metacognitive abilities compared to Problem Based Learning and conventional methods according to the results of the One-Way Anova test and the Tukey advanced test. The results of the One-Way Anova test with a level of 95% obtained a significance value of 0.00 and the significance results obtained from the similarity test experienced an increase in the level of students' metacognitive abilities, namely 1.00 > 0.05. Thus, hypothesis H_1 is accepted, which means that there is a difference in the influence of the average test score on students' metacognitive ability level on the application of the PBL model, PjBL model and conventional learning methods.
