Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa kelas VIII SMP N 1 Muaro Jambi dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita SPLDV berdasarkan Prosedur Newman. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode tes dan wawancara. Dari hasil tes soal cerita yang diikuti 27 orang siswa dan berdasarkan kriteria pemilihan subjek penelitian maka ditetapkan masing-masing 2 siswa pada tiap katagori kemampuan matematikanya. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 2 siswa yang memiliki kemampuan tinggi dan 2 siswa yang memiliki kemampuan rendah. Setiap hasil pekerjaan subjek penelitian dianalisis untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis kesalahan menggunakan Prosedur Newman, kemudian dilakukan wawancara untuk mendeskripsikan faktor-faktor penyebab melakukan kesalahan dari dalam diri siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis-jenis kesalahan yang muncul saat siswa menyelesaikan soal cerita materi SPLDV adalah: (1) kesalahan memahami soal, dimana siswa tidak menuliskan apa yang diketahui dalam soal secara tepat. (2) kesalahan transformasi, yaitu siswa belum mampu menentukan rumus yang harus digunakan untuk menyelesaiakan permasalahan dalam soal. (3) kesalahan keterampilan proses, yang meliputi kesalahan siswa dalam perhitungan dan tidak memahami konsep perhitungan. (4) kesalahan menuliskan jawaban akhir, yang meliputi kesalahan tidak menuliskan dan menjelaskan jawaban akhir, serta tidak menuliskan kesimpulan. Faktor-faktor penyebab kesalahan dari dalam diri siswa adalah belum mampu menuliskan yang diketahui dan ditanya dalam soal secara tepat, kurang berlatih soal-soal cerita dengan materi SPLDV, tidak memiliki kemampuan untuk memilih rumus penyelesaian yang benar, tidak teliti dalam melakukan proses perhitungan, tidak paham dengan perhitungan yang digunakan, belum mampu menuliskan jawaban akhir secara tepat, tidak terbiasa menuliskan kesimpulan. This study aims to analyze the types of mistakes made by grade VIII students of SMP N 1 Muaro Jambi in solving SPLDV story problems based on the Newman Procedure. This research is a qualitative research. Data collection was carried out using test and interview methods. From the results of the story test that was attended by 27 students and based on the criteria for selecting research subjects, 2 students were determined each in each category of mathematical ability. The subjects of this study are 2 students who have high abilities and 2 students who have low abilities. Each work result of the research subject was analyzed to describe the types of errors using the Newman Procedure, then interviews were conducted to describe the factors that caused the students to make mistakes. The results of the study showed that the types of errors that occurred when students solved the story problems of SPLDV material were: (1) misunderstanding of the problem, where students do not write down what is known in the question correctly. (2) transformation errors, namely students have not been able to determine the formula that must be used to solve the problem in the problem. (3) process skills errors, which include students' errors in calculations and not understanding the concept of calculation. (4) errors in writing the final answer, which include the error of not writing and explaining the final answer, and not writing the conclusion. The factors that cause mistakes from within students are not able to write what is known and asked in the questions correctly, lack of practice of story problems with SPLDV material, lack of ability to choose the correct solution formula, not thorough in carrying out the calculation process, not understanding the calculations used, not being able to write the final answer correctly, not being used to writing conclusions.
