Abstract

Entrepreneurship is very important in advancing the economy. From Ekachandra and Puspitowati's data, the ratio of the number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia is still 3.47 percent. When compared with neighboring countries, such as Singapore at 8.76 percent, Malaysia at 4.74 percent, and Thailand at 4.26 percent. For this reason, it is necessary to increase the readiness of the younger generation, especially students, in entrepreneurship. The aim of the research is to examine the influence of peers, entrepreneurial literacy and entrepreneurial intentions through entrepreneurial motivation on the entrepreneurial readiness of Merangin University students. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational survey method to test the influence between variables. A total of 1,105 students were the population in this study. Furthermore, by using a simple random sampling technique, 285 students were obtained as samples. This research data was tested using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the help of the SmartPLS application (v.4.1.0.3). The research results show that: 1) Peers, entrepreneurial literacy, entrepreneurial intentions and entrepreneurial motivation have an influence on students' entrepreneurial readiness; 2) Peers, entrepreneurial literacy, and entrepreneurial intentions have an influence on students' entrepreneurial motivation; 3) Entrepreneurial motivation is not always a direct mediator in peer relationships and entrepreneurial literacy on students' entrepreneurial readiness; 4) Entrepreneurial motivation can mediate the relationship between entrepreneurial intentions and students' entrepreneurial readiness. The variables included in the model are still limited and only investigate the influence of exogenous variables on endogenous ones with respondents who have not varied. This research provides practical implications and encourages policy change. The findings in this research require the implementation of project-based integrated entrepreneurship learning.
