Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bentuk morfologi serta teknik pembuatan koleksi perahu tradisional koleksi Museum Siginjei, Jambi. Koleksi perahu tradisional di museum tersebut mencerminkan keberagaman budaya, sejarah, dan teknologi masyarakat di sepanjang Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Batanghari. Sayangnya, sebagian besar koleksi tersebut tidak memiliki informasi yang mendalam dan belum dokumentasi yang memadai sehingga maknanya tidak tersampaikan secara utuh kepada pengunjung maupun kalangan akademik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnoarkeologi. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung terhadap objek koleksi, wawancara dengan narasumber terkait, serta studi pustaka dari literatur dan dokumen pendukung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa koleksi perahu di Museum Siginjei terdiri dari 12 koleksi, yang mencakup perahu utuh maupun fragmen. Di antaranya terdapat perahu papan berukuran besar seperti perahu lajur, perahu tangkul yang digunakan untuk mencari ikan, dan sejumlah fragmen dari bagian lambung, geretan (penggulung tali layar), dan komponen lainnya. Ditemukan penggunaan teknik lash lug dan paku keling. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar pengembangan interpretasi koleksi dan informasi museum secara lebih komprehensif. ABSTRACT This research aims to examine the morphological forms and construction techniques of the traditional boat collection at the Siginjei Museum in Jambi. The traditional boat collection at the museum reflects the cultural diversity, history, and technology of the communities along the Batanghari River Basin. Unfortunately, most of these collections lack in-depth information and adequate documentation, so their significance is not fully conveyed to visitors or the academic community. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with an ethnoarchaeological approach. Data were collected through direct observation of the collection objects, interviews with relevant informants, and literature reviews of supporting documents. The research findings show that the boat collection at the Siginjei Museum consists of 12 items, including both complete boats and fragments. Among them, there are large-sized plank boats such as lajur boats, tangkul boats used for fishing, and several fragments from the hull, the geretan (sail rope reel), and other components. The use of lash lug and rivet techniques was identified. This study is expected to serve as a basis for the development of a more comprehensive interpretation of the collection and museum information.
