Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in Economics in Grade X Phase E of SMAN 15 Tanjung Jabung Barat, where 43 out of 78 students had not achieved the Learning Objective Achievement Criteria (KKTP). This problem is suspected to be caused by the use of monotonous learning media and a lack of student engagement. This study aimed to determine the implementation of a snakes and ladders game-based learning strategy and its impact on improving student learning outcomes. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The study subjects consisted of two classes: an experimental class using the snakes and ladders game and a control class using conventional methods. Data collection was conducted through pretests and posttests using multiple-choice questions that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used normality tests, homogeneity tests, hypothesis tests, and n-gain tests. The results showed a significant difference between student learning outcomes in the experimental and control classes. The average increase in student scores (N-Gain) in the experimental class was higher than in the control class, indicating that the use of the Snakes and Ladders game was effective in improving learning outcomes. It can be concluded that the implementation of the Snakes and Ladders game-based learning strategy has a positive effect on students' economics learning outcomes. This media not only makes learning more engaging but also encourages active student engagement in the learning process.
