Abstract

The wood industry is one of the key sectors in the national economy; however, women’s involvement still faces various challenges such as gender discrimination, dual household burdens, and limited employment opportunities. This study aims to analyze internal and external factors influencing women’s work motivation in the wood moulding industry at PT Jambi Wood Industri, Muara Bulian District, Batanghari Regency. The research employed a census method with a total of 50 female employees as respondents. Data were collected through observation, structured questionnaire interviews, and literature studies, then analyzed using descriptive analysis, Spearman Rank correlation, and multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that the dominant internal factors are productive age (20–39 years) and the number of family dependents, which strongly encourage women to remain in the workforce. Externally, relationships with co-workers were the most influential factor with a mean score of 3.56, while wages (mean 2.86) and compensation (mean 2.98) were identified as the lowest-scoring factors. Regression analysis confirmed that internal and external factors simultaneously have a significant effect on women’s work motivation. This study emphasizes that enhancing women’s work motivation in the wood industry requires fair and inclusive corporate policies. Wage adjustments, adequate compensation, and the creation of a supportive and gender-inclusive work environment are crucial to sustaining motivation and productivity, thereby positioning women as strategic assets in the development of the national wood industry.
