Abstract

This research dealt with the survey on how English students perceived online learning in speaking class at Universitas Jambi. The study aims to investigate students' perceptions of online learning in speaking class at Jambi University. The formulated research question of this study was: How students perceive online learning in speaking class at Jambi University. This research employed qualitative and quantitative research. The participants of this study were 52 students of Speaking subject batch 2019. Data collected through questionnaire and interview. The result of the study showed that the students' perceptions toward online learning in speaking class at Universitas Jambi were proven like to have learning speaking material directly in a class, as the student felt that the online learning in speaking class was difficult to apply because many things can not be achieved with online learning in the speaking class, such as difficult to increase students' self-confidence, besides that, can not improve good public speaking for students.
