Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out and analyze the strategy of the Jambi Natural Resources Conservation Center in preserving the Sumatran Elephants in the Aalam Landscape of Bukit Tigapuluh, Tebo Regency, and to find out and analyze the relationship between the Jambi Natural Resources Conservation Center and the Non-Governmental Organizations in preserving the Sumatran Elephants. in the Bukit Tigapuluh Landscape of Tebo Regency. The research approach method used in this research is a qualitative approach. This qualitative research is descriptive in nature which aims to accurately describe the characteristics of an individual, the circumstances or the symptoms of a particular group. The data analysis technique used in the study was data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that in conserving Sumatran Elephants in the Bukit Tigapuluh Landscape of Tebo Regency, the strategy of the Jambi Natural Resources Conservation Center is to form the Essential Ecosystem Area Forum (KEE), to mitigate human-elephant conflicts collaboratively and participatively, registration, ecological research, conservation activities, collaborative and participatory conservation education and Ecotourism. In addition, BKSDA Jambi also formulates future strategic plans, namely strategic and action plans in population management and action plans for elephant conservation in the management of elephant habitat. The relationship between the Jambi Natural Resources Conservation Agency and NGOs in preserving the Sumatran Elephants in the Bukit Tigapuluh Landscape, BKSDA involves the World Wide Fundature (WWF) NGO, the Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS), the Indonesian Wildlife Conservation Foundation (YKSLI), and Village Cooperatives. The NGO has a duty to empower local communities so that people do not attack elephants, and mitigate conflicts between elephants and humans. Keywords: Strategy, Sustainability, Sumatran Elephants
