Abstract

ABSTRACT General Election (Election) is a means of democracy and a form of manifestation of people's sovereignty to produce representatives of the people and leaders who are aspirational, qualified, and responsible for the welfare of the people and are able to realize the stability of the country. In the electoral process, there is a category of voter group that is very interesting to note because it is included in the group that can affect the success rate of the election and has quite a lot of total votes. This group is a group of first-time voters, namely voters who cast their vote for the first time in an election. Beginner voters have a very important position in an election. Their political participation will determine progress in the region and the country. This research focuses on how the role of novice voters in preventing money politic in the Legislative General Election in Muaro Jambi. The types of voters that really need to be considered are first-time voters. Due to the low level of political education for first-time voters, it is necessary to conduct socialization to provide political education to them. This type of research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The subjects of this study were adolescents who were 17 years old. The increased awareness of new voters in politics, which can be obtained from curiosity and various socializations from election management institutions, has made new voters aware of various forms of violations so that they will at least refuse firmly if someone offers money with an indication of money politic.
