Abstract
This study aimed to describe the students’ perception towards the use of pictures in learning writing descriptive text. This research was a quantitative research with a survey approach through questionnaire. The sample of this research was 121 students from 3 classes of science major at SMA N 4 Jambi City. The data in this research were obtained through 15 questions of the questionnaire which were adapted from Ilmiyah et al. & Ilmi. The finding showed that students’ perception towards the use of pictures in learning writing descriptive text was positive. The students said that they were agree with the use of pictures in learning writing descriptive text since it contributes positively in learning process and it can grow the motivation and make the students pay attention and engage in the learning process. Therefore, it is suggested to the students and the teachers to use pictures in teaching and learning process, especially in writing in order to create a contextual, meaningful, and attractive learning activities and also promote the students being engaged in the learning activities.
