ABSTRACT Gifran. 2022. An Analysis of Difficulties in Writing Thesis as Final Project of Master Degree Program’s Students. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Jambi University in Academic Year 2021/2022.The First Supervisor is Drs. Syahrial, M.Ed., Ph.D. Second Supervisor is Urip Sulistiyo, S.Pd., M.Ed., Ph.D Key words: Writing, Academic Writing, Thesis, Writing Thesis This research aimed to analyze the students' difficulties in writing thesis as the final project and the solution to overcome the difficulties of post graduate students. This is qualitative study with a case study as the approach. Therefore, demographic profiles and interviews which consist of several questions were used as the main data. Then, there were three post graduate students who participated in this research. Each of them was a student who had completed the thesis for more than six months. Furthermore, the result showed that there are two major findings which divided into two themes and sub-themes. However, the first finding of this research is about students' difficulties in writing thesis. It consists of external difficulties such as 1) lack of knowledge of how to write a thesis, 2) lack of understanding in writing a thesis, 3) lack of understanding toward the components of writing a thesis, and 4) difficulties to find and manage time to continue the thesis. Then the internal difficulties are 1) difficulties in obtaining references, 2) difficulties in determining methods and instruments to collect the data, and 3) do not be confident with writing style. In response to the difficulties, the second finding in this study is discussed about students' strategies to cope with difficulties in writing theses. Based on the research results, the researcher found that there were two strategies used by participants, namely; 1) take time to break for a while and 2) discuss with friends.
