Abstract

This study was aimed to develop transmigration pattern corresponding to regional autonomy era with strong emphasis on linkage between transmigration settlements location with the surrounding area. The study was conducted at the ex-transmigration villages in Jambi Province. The interaction between transmigration villages with the surrounding residential area approached through various socio-economic activities. Logit regression model use to analyze the determinants of the interaction. The study found low interaction between ex-transmigration villages with the surrounding areas. This is due to underdeveloped various facilities and unbalanced production activities growth between transmigration and non-transmigration villages, relatively far distance among transmigration village, and limited social capital development at the community level. According to the results, this study suggests that the pattern of transmigration area development integrated social-functional-spatial.
