Abstract

Pulau Sumatera merupakan salah satu pulau terluas di Indonesia, pertumbuhan ekonomi yang terjadi di Pulau Sumatera tidak menjamin kemakmuran di semua daerah. Secara umum, pembangunan ekonomi selain meningkatkan PDB atau PDRB juga bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia, meningkatkan produktivitas, dan menciptakan pemerataan pendapatan di antara masyarakat. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini mencoba untuk melakukan analisis hubungan dinamis yang terjadi antara variabel pertumbuhan ekonomi, pembangunan manusia, ketimpangan pendapatan, dan produktivitas tenaga kerja di Pulau Sumatera pada periode waktu 2010 sampai dengan 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan model Panel Vector Error Correction Model (PVECM) Hasil penelitian menemukan jika model dengan variabel dependen pembangunan manusia dan ketimpangan pendapatan memiliki error correction term yang signifikan. Artinya model dengan variabel dependen pembangunan manusia dan ketimpangan pendapatan memiliki hubungan jangka panjang di dalam penelitian ini. Selanjutnya untuk hubungan jangka pendek menunjukkan jika variabel Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM) dalam jangka pendek dipengaruhi secara negatif dan signifikan oleh variabel ketimpangan pendapatan (GR) pada satu periode sebelumnya. Selanjutnya pada satu dan dua periode sebelumnya variabel pertumbuhan ekonomi (PDRB) dalam jangka pendek dipengaruhi secara negatif dan signifikan oleh variabel ketimpangan pendapatan (GR). Dalam jangka pendek ketimpangan pendapatan (GR) dipengaruhi positif dan signifikan oleh variabel Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM) pada satu periode sebelumnya. Selanjutnya, pada dua periode sebelumnya variabel pembangunan manusia berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap ketimpangan pendapatan yang terjadi di Pulau Sumatera. Variabel pertumbuhan ekonomi (PDRB) pada dua periode sebelumnya berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap ketimpangan pendapatan (GR) dalam jangka pendek. Selain itu, variabel pertumbuhan ekonomi (PDRB) satu periode sebelumnya juga berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap tingkat produktivitas tenaga kerja (EP) di Pulau Sumatera. VEC Granger Causality/Block Exogeneity Wald Test menunjukkan identifikasi terdapat hubungan dua arah (bidirectional causality) antara variabel ketimpangan pendapatan dan pembangunan manusia di Pulau Sumatera. Selanjutnya, antara variabel pertumbuhan ekonomi dan ketimpangan pendapatan juga memiliki hubungan dua arah (bidirectional causality). Kemudian terdapat hubungan satu arah (unidirectional causality) dari variabel pertumbuhan ekonomi terhadap tingkat produktivitas tenaga kerja di Pulau Sumatera. Sumatra Island is one of the largest islands in Indonesia, the economic growth that occurs on Sumatra Island does not guarantee prosperity in all regions. In general, economic development apart from increasing GDP or GDRP also aims to improve the quality of human resources, increase labour productivity, and create equality in income distribution among the people. Therefore, this study tries to analyze the dynamic relationships that occur between the variables of economic growth, human development, income inequality, and labor productivity on the island of Sumatra in the period 2010 to 2019. This study uses the Panel Vector Error Correction Model (PVECM) The results of the study found that the model with the dependent variable human development and income inequality has a significant error correction term. This means that the model with the dependent variable human development and income inequality has a long-term relationship in this study. Furthermore, the short-term relationship shows that the Human Development Index (IPM) variable in the short term is negatively and significantly influenced by the income inequality variable (GR) in the previous period. Furthermore, in the one and two previous periods the variable economic growth (PDRB) in the short term was negatively and significantly influenced by the income inequality variable (GR). In the short term, income inequality (GR) is positively and significantly affected by the Human Development Index (IPM) variable in the previous period. Furthermore, in the two previous periods the human development variable had a negative and significant effect on income inequality that occurred on the island of Sumatra. The economic growth variable (PDRB) in the previous two periods had a negative and significant effect on income inequality (GR) in the short term. In addition, the variable economic growth (PDRB) in the previous period also had a negative and significant effect on the level of labor productivity (EP) on the island of Sumatra. The VEC Granger Causality/Block Exogeneity Wald Test shows the identification of a bidirectional causality between the variables of income inequality and human development on the island of Sumatra. Furthermore, between the variables of economic growth and income inequality also has a bidirectional relationship. Then there is a one-way relationship (unidirectional causality) from the economic growth variable to labor productivity on the island of Sumatra.
