Abstract

Indonesia is the richest country which has some natural resources. Natural resources has an important role in production . Pangkalan Jambu’s District is located in Merangin Regency which has rice productivity. Productivity is one of the efforts to improve in the farming success. In this study the researchers tried to look at the relationship between farmer behavior and the productivity of lowland rice farming. The research was conducted in Pangkalan Jambu District, Merangin Regency. The location was chosen purposively with the consideration that the area that is a paddy field for planting rice, ex-gold mining without a permit. Sources of research data include primary data and secondary data including the results of interviews, documentation methods from reports, literature and results of previous studies. Data collection methods through observation, interviews, documentation. The sampling method is the census method. The behavior of farmers is the result of all kinds of experiences that are manifested in the form of knowledge, attitudes and actions. The category of farmers behavior is high. And the productivity of lowland rice farming in the research area is high. Based on the chi-square test of the relationship between farmers and the productivity of lowland rice farming in ex-gold mining without a permit, the value of x2hit 5.88 x2tab (5% db 1) 3.84 means that accept H1. It has meaning that there is a significant relationship between knowledge (cognitive) about affect the high and low productivity of lowland rice farming in the former PETI of Pangkalan Jambu District, Merangin Regency. The farming’s behavior consist knowledge (66,12%) attitude (69.35%) , and action’s (67.75%). The productivity of lowland rice farming on former PETI land in Pangkalan Jambu District, Merangin Regency averaged 6,230 ha/kg. There is a significant relationship between farmer behavior and the productivity of lowland rice farming in former gold mining without permits in Pangkalan Jambu District.
