Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to find out the role Nahdlatul Ulama in Sofyan Ali’s election as DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period, as well as knowed the factors that caused Sofyan Ali’s election as DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The data collected includes primary data and secondary data by collecting data using interviews and documentation. Determination of informants used purposive sampling and descriptive data analysis. The result of this study was the role Nahdlatul Ulama in Sofyan Ali’s election as DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period includes the role of being involved in the Sofyan Ali’s politic parties, the role in making decisions by giving directions to Sofyan Ali and the role of providing support to Sofyan Ali. Meanwhile, the role in delegating Sofyan Ali as a candidate for the DPR-RI was not carried out because it was included in the parties internal rights, namely PKB. However, this role is not carried out directly by NU as an organization but rather this rol arises from NU or Nahdliyin members who individually support Sofyan Ali. Factors that caused Sofyan Ali’s election as DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period consisting of rational power factors in the forms of Sofyan Ali’s leadership in PKB, where Sofyan Ali has served as chairman of the DPW PKB Jambi province since 2013 until now, previously served as secretary and deputy secretary of the DPW PKB Jambi Province, and had served as deputy chairman of the DPC PKB Jambi City. The next factor is charismatic power in the form of Sofyan Ali’s ability in politics because Sofyan Ali has served as a member of the Jambi City DPRD for the 2014-2019 period.
