Abstract

HUBUNGAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL (EQ) DENGAN QUARTER LIFE CRISIS PADA MAHASISWA TINGKAT AKHIR FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN DAN ILMU KESEHATAN UNIVERSITAS JAMBI Syifa Inayati Email : syifainayati@yahoo.com ABSTRAK Latar Belakang : Mahasiswa tingkat akhir di Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Jambi termasuk ke dalam sekelompok orang berusia dewasa awal yang mempunyai permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan aktivitas akademik, tuntutan keluarga, hubungan percintaan, dan perencanaan karir. Individu yang belum siap menghadapi permasalahan tersebut dapat mengalami ketidakstabilan perasaan dengan munculnya respon emosional negatif. Kondisi tersebut dikenal sebagai quarter life crisis. Permulaan quarter life crisis terjadi ketika individu dewasa awal menjadi mahasiswa tingkat akhir yang tidak memiliki cukup persiapan untuk menghadapi realitas dunia yang terkesan sulit dan penuh tantangan. Mahasiswa tingkat akhir perlu mempunyai kemampuan untuk bertahan. Salah satunya dengan memiliki kecerdasan emosional (EQ) yang dapat membentuk suatu kekuatan positif untuk menjaga keharmonisan di dalam diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kecerdasan emosional (EQ) dengan quarter life crisis pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Jambi. Metode : Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang menggunakan metode korelasional dengan desain cross-sectional. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling dengan instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner berupa SEIS dan skala quarter life crisis. Analisa data menggunakan analisa univariat dan analisa bivariat dengan uji correlation gamma. Hasil : Hasil uji correlation gamma diperoleh p-value 0.000 < 0.05 dan rx,y (-0.642) menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kecerdasan emosional (EQ) dengan quarter life crisis pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Jambi. Kesimpulan dan Saran : Variabel kecerdasan emosional (EQ) memiliki hubungan negatif dengan variabel quarter life crisis pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Jambi. Semakin rendah kecerdasan emosional (EQ) maka semakin tinggi quarter life crisis dan begitu pula sebaliknya. Mahasiswa tingkat akhir diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kecerdasan emosional (EQ) sebagai mekanisme koping yang adaptif untuk menghadapi quarter life crisis. THE RELATIONSHIP OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (EQ) WITH QUARTER LIFE CRISIS IN FINAL YEAR STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH SCIENCES, UNIVERSITY OF JAMBI Syifa Inayati Email : syifainayati@yahoo.com ABSTRACT Backgrounds : Final year students at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Jambi belong to a group of early adults who have problems related to academic activities, family demands, romantic relationships, and career planning. Individuals who are not ready to face these problems can experience emotional instability with the emergence of negative emotional responses. This condition is known as a quarter life crisis. The beginning of a quarter life crisis occurs when early adult individuals become final year students who do not have enough preparation to face the reality of a world that seems difficult and full of challenges. Final year students need to have the ability to survive. One of them is by having emotional intelligence (EQ) which can form a positive force to maintain harmony within yourself. This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence (EQ) and quarter life crisis in final year students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Jambi. Methods : This research is a quantitative study that has used correlational methods with cross-sectional design. The sampling technique has used Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling with research instruments in the form of questionnaires in the form of SEIS and a quarter life crisis scale. Data analysis using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with gamma correlation test. Results : The results of the gamma correlation test obtained p-value 0.000 <0.05 and rx,y (-0.642) indicating that there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence (EQ) and quarter life crisis in final year students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Jambi. Conclusions and Suggestions : The emotional intelligence (EQ) variable has a negative relationship with the quarter life crisis variable in final year students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Jambi. The lower the emotional intelligence (EQ), the higher the quarter life crisis and vice versa. Final year students are expected to improve emotional intelligence (EQ) as an adaptive coping mechanism to deal with quarter life crisis.
