Thesis, Indonesian Language and Literature Education Masters Study Program, Department of Indonesian Language and Literature Education (MPBSI), FKIP University of Jambi. Advisor 1) Prof. H. Yundi Fitrah Drs., M. Hum., Ph. D., 2) Dr. dr. Warni, M. Hum. Keywords: Educational Value, Character, customary parno The purpose of this study was to describe the values of character education in traditional wedding parno and the Tigo Luhah Semurup community's perception of customary parno. This research was conducted at Tigo Luhah Semurup, Kerinci district, from 19 October 2022 to 4 May 2023 with a qualitative descriptive research type. Research data obtained by means of observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study found the values of character education in parno customary marriage at Tigo Luhah Semurup, namely the values of character education for love of God, truth, responsibility, trustworthiness, respect, courtesy, cooperation, leadership, kind and humble, as well as tolerance and love characters. peace. Then the results of interviews regarding people's perceptions of parno found that the meaning of parno was a delivery of traditional words carried out by the regional customary leader Tigo Luhah Semurup. Then the existence of customary parno has a great influence on people's lives because this customary parno can also be said to be a rule in people's lives. Based on the research, it was concluded that in the customary wedding parno of the Tigo Luhah Semurup community there is a value of character education, and the community has the opinion that customary parno is a delivery or speech with customary words. Suggestions for other researchers to carry out the development of research that has been carried out with related methods so that the research results are useful for readers and connoisseurs of literature.
