Abstract

ABSTRAK Kawasan kampus Universitas Jambi (UNJA) merupakan kawasan tempat aktivitas perkuliahan dan administrasi.Banyaknya laporan mengenai peerjumpaan terhadap ular dan beberapa kasus gigitan ular terhadap mahasiswa pada kawaasan kampus UNJA karena selalu dilalui oleh mahasiswa maupun masyarakat setempat.Sebagian kawasan hutan pendidikan UNJA masih memiliki tingkat kerapatan yang tinggi.Kegiatan penelitian akan dilaksanakan di dalam kawasan Kampus Pinang Masak Universitas Jambi, Mendalo, Kecamatan Jambi Luar Kota, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi dengan luas sekitar ±53,2 ha. Adapun tujuan dari peneitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi jenis ular (sub ordo Serpentes) yang terdapat di Hutan Pendidikan Pinang Masak Universitas Jambi. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode VES (Visual Encounter Survey). Pengamatan Ular dilakukan secara eksplorasi. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, jenis ular yang berhasil diidentifikasi selama penelitian pada Hutan Pendidikan Kampus Pinang Masak Universitas Jambi tercatat sebanyak 19 jenis ular dari 4 famili. Keempat famili ular tersebut yaitu famili Pythonidae 1 jenis, famili Colubridae 14 jenis, famili Elapidae 3 jenis, dan famili Viperidae 1 jenis. Keanekaragaman jenis ular di Hutan Pendidikan Kampus Pinang Masak Universitas Jambi pada stasiun D(Kebun Percobaan fakultas) sebesar H’=1,95 dalam kategori sedang, yaitu sebesar 1,95 dalam kategori sedang. Sedangkan kenaekaragaman jenis ular terendah terdapat pada stasiun (gedung dan area sekitar danau UNJA) yaitu sebesar 1,33 dalam kategori sedang Kata Kunci : Keanekaragaman Jenis Ular, (Sub Ordo Serpentes), Hutan Kampus ABSTRACT The campus area of the University of Jambi (UNJA) is an area where lectures and administration activities take place. There are many reports of encounters with snakes and several cases of snake bites against students in the UNJA campus area because students and the local community always pass through them. Some of the UNJA educational forest areas still have high density levels. Research activities will be carried out in the Pinang Masak Campus area of Jambi University, Mendalo, Jambi Outside City District, Muaro Jambi Regency with an area of approximately ±53.2 ha. The purpose of this research is to identify the types of snakes (sub-order Serpentes) found in the Pinang Masak University Forest of Jambi. Retrieval of data using the VES (Visual Encounter Survey) method. Observation of snakes was carried out exploratory Based on the research that has been done, the types of snakes that were identified during the research in the Educational Forest of the Pinang Masak Campus, Jambi University were recorded as many as 19 species of snakes from 4 families. The four snake families are the Pythonidae family 1 species, the Colubridae family 14 species, the Elapidae family 3 species, and the Viperidae family 1 species. The diversity of snake species in the Educational Forest of Jambi University's Pinang Masak Campus at station D (Faculty Experimental Garden) was H'=1.95 in the medium category, which was 1.95 in the medium category. While the lowest diversity of snake species was found at the station (building and area around the UNJA lake) which was 1.33 in the medium category.
