Abstract

The quality of lighting and cooling is an important factor in reading activities. In accordance with the Regulation of the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia Number 13 of 2017 concerning national standards for higher education libraries. So that library users can carry out activities in it. This test was carried out to evaluate the quality of the lighting system and cooling system in the Jambi University library building. The method used is a comparative method by comparing the results of lighting and cooling measurements with the standards issued by the National Library No. 13 of 2017 for tertiary institutions. Measurements were carried out with 2 treatments, namely when the window blinds were open and closed. The results of measuring and calculating lighting in the textbook room are 20.74 lux and in the circulation room are 16.4 lux. Measurement and calculation of the need for a cooling system in a textbook room of 30,278.3 Btu means that an AC of 3.3 PK is needed to achieve ideal needs. In the circulation space it takes 109,054.9 Btu, meaning that it is necessary to add 12.1 PK of AC to reach the desired temperature. Keywords: Lumen, Temperature, National Library Standard no 13 of 2017
