Abstract
Field research was conducted from May to July 2022. Research on oil palm plantations aged 4 years (30 ha), 6 years (50 ha) and 8 years (80). Measurements were made on forage that grows naturally under oil palm crops which include botanical composition, forage production, and the carrying capacity of forage-based land. This study aims to develop a land carrying capacity strategy for the integration of forage-based oil palm cattle. Research methods used to measure the carrying capacity of land based on fresh production methods and the production of forage dry matter. The results showed that the highest botanical composition was based on the Summed Dominance Ratio (SDR) on the land of oil palm plants aged 4 years Paspalum sarmentosum Roxb (45.45%), palms aged 6 years Paspalum sarmentosum Roxb (67.92%) and palms aged 8 years Paspalum sarmentosum Roxb (43.52%). The carrying capacity of forage-based land for succulent feed for 4-year-old palms is 2.48 UT ha-1 year-1, and based on dry matter is 6.12 UT ha-1 year-1. The carrying capacity of forage-based land for succulent feed for palm oil aged 6 years is 0.81 UT ha -1 year-1, and based on dry matter is 9.09 UT ha-1 year-1 . The carrying capacity of forage-based land for succulent feed for palm oil aged 8 years is 0.84 UT ha-1 year-1, and based on dry matter is 9.20 UT ha-1 year-1. The conclusion shows that the carrying capacity of forage-based land is best on oil palm aged 8 years.
