Abstract

The role of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) in supervising the implementation of the basic principles of Human Rights (HAM) in Indonesia. Komnas HAM is an independent institution that handles cases of human rights violations. The main goal is to protect individual rights from interference from other parties. Komnas HAM plays a role in study, protection, research, education, monitoring and mediation related to human rights. The Human Rights Law and the Human Rights Court Law are the legal basis for handling cases of human rights violations. Komnas HAM has equal status with other state institutions and handles minor and serious human rights violations. The presence of Komnas HAM as an independent institution shows the state's commitment to protecting human rights. By using the principles of independence and pluralism, Komnas HAM maintains its integrity and is not influenced by the government or civil society. Komnas HAM adheres to the principles of truth and justice in protecting human rights. By using primary and secondary data, data collection was carried out using a conceptual approach and analysis of laws and regulations, which were considered to be closely related to the problems under study. Overall, Komnas HAM has an important role in protecting and upholding human rights in Indonesia.
