Abstract
This study aims to analyze the competitiveness of the industrial sector in regencies/cities in Jambi Province and analyze the effect of HDI, industrial sector labor and industrial sector investment on the competitiveness of the industrial sector in regencies/cities in Jambi Province. The data used in this study are secondary data with a combined type of time series data 2018-2022 with cross-section data for 11 districts and cities in Jambi Province, the research data comes from the Jambi Province Integrated Investment and Licensing Office and the Jambi Provincial Statistics Agency. The data analysis method in this study uses LQ, DLQ, Klassen Typology and shift-share analysis to analyze the competitiveness of the industrial sector, as well as panel data regression analysis to measure the effect of HDI, labor and investment on the competitiveness of the industrial sector, data analysis tools using eviews 12. Based on the analysis of the competitiveness of the industrial sector in 11 districts/cities in Jambi Province using the LQ method, the results obtained are 4 potential areas, namely Jambi City, Muaro Jambi, Batanghari and West Tanjung Jabung. Then based on the DLQ analysis obtained the results of only two regions that are not prospective, namely Kerinci and Batanghari, the rest are not prospective. Klassen typology analysis shows that there are three regions whose industrial sectors are basic and prospective sectors, namely Muaro Jmabi, West Tanjung Jabung and Jambi City and shift-share analysis shows that there are no regions whose industrial sectors are fast growing and competitive, from 11 districts/cities there are eight regions whose industrial sectors are slow growing but have competitiveness, namely Kerinci, Merangin, Muaro Jambi, Tebo, Bungo, Sungai Penuh City and Jambi City while the rest of the industrial sector is slow growing and not competitive. Based on the panel data regression analysis, it is found that the variables that significantly affect industrial competitiveness in districts/cities in Jambi Province are labor and investment variables while the HDI variable has no significant effect on industrial competitiveness in districts/cities in Jambi Province.
