Abstract
This qualitative research aimed to identify the challenges of teaching faced by English education students in the PLP MBKM program and how they overcome the challenges. Data for this research was collected from three students of the English education study program of Jambi University who participated in the PLP MBKM program. The data were analyzed using Braun & Clark's (2006) theory, which involves several phases: familiarizing with the data, identifying elements representing the data, identifying themes, and writing a final report. The research results show several challenges: diverse student needs, effective classroom management, developing learning instruments, and pre-service teachers' workload. The researcher also found several strategies to overcome the challenges: observing students' needs, establishing good communication between teachers and students, asking for guidance from mentoring teachers, good time management, and motivating students by giving rewards. The researcher expected that the findings of this research could be useful as references for future studies.
